One of my grandmothers (who I take after more than anyone else in the family), had bad knees and eventually ended up having knee surgery in her 70’s. Being so much like her in so many ways, and understanding the importance of “preventing” something before it becomes an issue, I decided to get back on (I took it years ago due to arthritis in my hip…click here for that post) at least one of Shaklee’s Joint Health Complex (which I take at bedtime) to keep the cartilage in all my joints lubricated and fed, in hopes to avoid any serious loss of cartilage, as I age. And remember, I had no pain in any of my joints, so I didn’t expect to feel anything different…..but funny thing was …. I actually did!
There are thousands of brands of supplements and most people assume if it’s on a shelf, it MUST work! Don’t feel bad if you’re one of those people, I WAS too, 22 years ago, but I’d like to share a story that demonstrates how easily it is to buy the wrong product for the desired results!
Do YOU or someone you know have achy joints? I knew how much I, personally, love Shaklee’s Joint Health Complex, because it got rid of the arthritis in my hip, but it is SO MUCH more rewarding to watch it help other people! A couple years ago, I met a gentleman, an HVAC guy, with extreme knee pain, due to the strain on his knees because of his job, and his son, who had back pain, decided to give our Joint Health Complex a try!
Shortly after my second child was born, I noticed that if I sat for any long period of time and then got up to walk, my right hip just didn’t want to cooperate right away. It felt tender for about the first 6 or 7 steps, causing me to almost walk with a limp until it decided to function properly. And I was only 30 years old! I thought to myself…..”What is up with my hip?!!” When I described it to my mother-in-law about a year later, she said it sounded like arthritis. I researched it and discovered this can happen to some women as a result of all the nutrients a baby robs from you during pregnancy!
How important do you feel a good Multivitamin is for you, vs. individual vitamins? Look at it this way……let’s say you were putting together a champion football team….would you agree that even if you found THE ABSOLUTE BEST QUARTERBACK IN THE WORLD, you wouldn’t expect him to play and win the game alone, would you? You would need the whole team present to back him up…..am I right? That’s how you need to look at supplementation. In order for any one particular vitamin/mineral to work at its best, it needs a good “team” (foundation of vitamins) backing it up, helping it to perform at it’s peak!
