A few years ago, I had a Shaklee table at a family consignment store event and although my main focus was on “Helping Kids Find Their Happy Face”, among the people who stopped to talk to me, there was a woman who had heard of Shaklee and knew they had cleaners. She had already shared with me that her child, about the age of 6, had many health issues, asthma and several allergies being amongst them. She asked about Shaklee’s cleaners because she had heard they were known for being the greenest products on the market and she had also heard about how chemicals in cleaners might have a direct effect on asthma/allergy symptoms in children.
There are thousands of brands of supplements and most people assume if it’s on a shelf, it MUST work! Don’t feel bad if you’re one of those people, I WAS too, 22 years ago, but I’d like to share a story that demonstrates how easily it is to buy the wrong product for the desired results!
Does this sound and look like you or someone you know? Do you feel sleepy and lack energy during the day, and once you go to bed you can’t seem to sleep, or you wake up in the middle of the night and can’t fall BACK asleep? Or you just can’t turn your brain off or you simply can’t relax enough to fall asleep?
We live in a society that is over-fed yet under-nourished….literally. We have grocery stores filled with food, fast-food restaurants everywhere we look! So with all this food available to us, how is it that the majority of our society is literally under-nourished?! When you see people under-nourished due to starvation in other countries, it’s a very obvious condition and problem. But here in the U.S., it’s a hidden problem. Sure many people are overweight and/or obese, so there’s evidence of the over-fed issue, but even those people who are considered a good weight, are also likely under-nourished. They just have fast metabolisms that help hide any kind of real problem going on in their bodies.
It really is funny how some supplement companies are so quick to “jump on the bandwagon” to sell whatever will sell, when it comes to new products! I mean….really…..as soon as a product becomes a hot seller….everyone and their grandma produces their version of it and throws it on a shelf for sale…..often before checking it’s safety and/or effects on our bodies.
Years ago my mother and I got on the subject of how bathroom carpets, no matter how well you seem to take care of them, still have a short life, due to the backs crumbling and wearing away. My mother asked me if I knew what caused this, to which I answered, “Well….I’ve always assumed it was the heat of the dryer”. “Nope”, she said, “It’s your detergent, it simply eats away at the rubber over time, so if you want your bathroom carpets to last longer, just use a tiny bit of detergent. It’ll still happen, but not as quickly.”
